MOVIES INFLUENCE TODAY’S BRIDAL TRENDS

The Movie “The Great Gatsby” will be hitting theatres in May, 2013. Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan, Isla Fisher, Tobey Maguire and many more famous actors, and actresses will be a part of this movie.    I can’t wait to see it!

American author F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote the novel The Great Gatsby in 1925. The book takes place in  New York City in 1922 during a prosperous time in the United States known as the “Roaring Twenties”. This period lasted from 1920 until the Wall Street Crash of 1929. The roaring 20’s were a glamorous time with lots of parties, Jazz Music and fabulous Art Deco jewelry.

Art Deco is the term used to refer to highly styled and sleek designs popular in the 1920’s.  The Art Deco movement introduced styles that focused on bold colors and geometric shapes. Geometrics play a big part in the Art Deco look.   Circles, triangles, squares, and rectangles were used in the design of Art Deco Jewelry. Art Deco jewelry consist of pendants and long dangling necklaces, with long dangling drop earrings, bold rings, and wearing multiple bangles and bracelets. Pearls play a big part of this period with Coco Chanel as one of the most influential women in fashion.
