Stress can be a tough foe to battle, and even tougher to win against, especially when planning a wedding. You may know of common things that help to relieve stress like yoga or running but what you may not know is that there are specific foods to eat when you’re stressed. These foods will help lower your stress levels and make you feel better. Some are known to help lower blood pressure, while others are just chock full of good stuff to help you battle the stress, and anything else that comes at you.

Some of the best foods to eat when you’re stressed are listed below:

  • Dark chocolate. While it may not be healthy to binge on the whole bar of dark chocolate, a piece or two here and there during the wedding planning process will help you out by reducing stress hormones, lowering your blood pressure, and improving your circulation.
  • Blueberries. This fruit is full of antioxidants, which help to fight diseases, but you probably didn’t know that they also help to battle stress. Not only that, when you’re stressed you’re more likely to become ill, but not if you eat blueberries, which produce a boost in some of your white blood cells, your body’s defense against illness.
  • Yogurt. Think of it as a healthy little snack that cleans up your gut. Bacteria in your stomach can contribute to stress, as well as gastrointestinal systems that are messing with your wedding planning schedule, so make yourself a bowl of yogurt. Yogurt has probiotics in it, which is not only healthy for your stomach, but good for stress too, since it has been shown to reduce activity in the part of your brain that handles emotion.
  • Leafy greens. You knew this would be on the list somewhere, and adding more green to your diet is a definite mood-booster. Look at spinach, which produces dopamine. Dopamine is a pleasure-inducing chemical in your brain, so consuming a little bit of it will help to put you in a good mood.

There’s a variety of other foods to eat when you’re stressed, but all of these also happen to fit into a healthy bridal diet. These will help you to keep your mental and physical health up when making these tough bridal decisions.
